We have had a busy last few weeks, therefore I am very behind in my updates...so here it is all wrapped in one ;)
Our baby is officially 1!!! So crazy it has already been a year since we were blessed with our little bundle of joy...people say that you will never forget that day and they are so right! Luke has added so much to our life this past year...words can't even express how much we absolutely LOVE him!!! I am so grateful for all the fun memories we have made and all that are to come!
We didn't know exactly what to do for Luke's special day...not that he was going to know any different, but we wanted to make it special...we decided on the splash park...since we have a little fish :) To start the day we took him to Taylor's bakery to pick out a cupcake, let him take a little siesta, and then we were off to the splash park for our first little picnic :) Luke did surprisingly well sitting with us on the blanket to eat his sandwich (he isn't much for sitting still) Then he was off...

we were starting to think he wasn't going to be into the water... he spent forever just walking up and down the sidewalk :)

being a little cheeseball...he just thought walking around was the greatest time...haha
and back to the water again...he's ready now!
we had such a blast watching Luke...he provides the best entertainment ever! He is just so stinkin' cute! I think he had a good time ;)

We headed to Lake Tippecanoe on the evening of Luke's B-day to start the 4th of July festivities with the Downing crew! We always look forward to going to the lake each year and could not wait to see how Luke was going to like it! I can say for sure that he had an absolute ball! He loved the water, the boats, and the company!

And last but certainly not least we had Luke's 1st birthday party this past saturday! I think it went pretty well...maybe a little chaotic, but I guess that is how it is gonna be from now on ;) I definitely had a few bumps in the road, but loved having everyone celebrate the Lukester! In the end it was all about Luke and he isn't going to remember that I forgot to get ice cream or didn't get his scrapbook done...lol! Shoulda, coulda, woulda...right? ;)
My main goal of his birthday was to make his cake myself...which was a real learning experience since I have never decorated a cake before ;)

I made Luke his own giant cupcake too! He definitely didn't dig into this one like he did on his acutal birthday! There were just too many distractions for him to want to sit and eat ;)

Luke went to the doctor for his 1 year check-up...he did great! He got 3 shots...cried for about 1 minute and he was over it!
